Introduction
Finger BassLine implements the widely used MIDI Beat Clock protocol, so it can be synced to software like
- Apple Logic
- Garageband (with RetroWare's midiO Audio Unit)
- Ableton Live
or MIDI sequencing hardware (connected to a Mac via a MIDI interface) like
- Akai MPC Series
- Korg EMX/ESX
- Elektron Machinedrum
- Jomox XBase
The required connection to the mobile device(s) running BassLine can be established via wireless network using MidiBroadcast, available for free download.
Setup Guide
The MIDI Clock Sync protocol needs accurate timing, therefore a responsive network connection is needed. This makes necessary to establish a Computer-to-computer Wi-Fi Connection as described below.
On your Mac:
- From the AirPort menu choose "Create network..." to create an Ad-hoc wireless network. Optionally, but recommended, require a password.

- Launch MidiBroadcast, select the appropriate MIDI source, and set the Broadcast Address of your previously created subnet (usually 169.254.255.255) as destination.

On your iPhone or iPod Touch:
- In Wi-Fi Settings choose the newly created network.

- Launch your MIDI Slave (BassLine).
On your MIDI Master:
- Enable sending of MIDI Clock messages. Consult the users manual of your hardware/software for instructions, if you don't know how to do this.
- Start playback.
